can we take admission in IIT after diploma

IIT --Indian Institute of Technology.

Candidates scored high level Marks in our +2 / Diploma course.
Then you are selected on Entrance exam way.

IIT stands of Indian Institute of Technology.

There are many courses being taught in every IIT.

The entrance procedure for different kind of courses, is different and so the
eligibility criteria too, is different for different kind of courses.

IIT-JEE
This is the entrance examination conducted by IITs for admission in following courses.
B.Tech. (4 years)
B.Tech.+M.Tech. Dual Degree Course (5 years)
M.Sc. (Tech) Integrated course (5 years)
M.Sc. Integrated (5 years)
In some IITs there 4 year Bachelor of Science course, B.Des., B.Arch. and B.Pharm. courses also.

IIT-JAM
This is the entrance examination conducted by IITs for admission in following courses.
M.Sc. (2 years)
M.Sc.+Ph.D. Dual Degree course

GATE
This is not just an entrance examination because the GATE score is not only used by IITs
for admission in some courses, but it is also used by mostly institutions for admission in
M.Tech. courses and also it replaces the written test of many PSU for recruitment of
engineering graduates.

CEED
This is the entrance examination conducted by IIT Bombay for admission in M.Des. courses.
at IIT campuses and IISc Banglore.

The qualification required to appear for IIT-JEE, is 12th with P.C.M. with at least
60% marks and one can apply for the exam while in 12th class or in the next year
which comes just after passing 12th. i.e. Only two chances to appear for IIT-JEE
in a lifetime.


The qualification required for IIT-JAM is B.Sc. degree.

The qualification required for GATE is B.Tech. or M.Sc. or equivalent degree.

The qualification required for CEED is any one of the following.
I. B.E./B.Tech.B.Arch.B.Des./ Bachelor degree in Interior Design or equivalent

II. Professional Diploma course in Design (NID/CEPT)

III. B.F.A.

IV. G.D. Art, with one year professional experience

V. Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications

While it is possible to take admission in Indian Institutes of Technology after completing diploma, there are few things which you should remember.

The procedure for diploma holder to apply for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology is same as for the 12th standard pass student. You will have to appear for entrance exam called Joint Entrance Exam (JEE).

Diploma holders generally prefer lateral entry admission. Under the scheme they are eligible for direct admission in the second year of B.Tech course. While various colleges offer admission through lateral entry scheme, it does not include Indian Institutes of Technology.

Which means that there is no lateral entry in IITs. You will have to take admission for complete 4 years course instead of taking admission in second year. Now this is the decision you have to make.

Would you like to take admission in second year of B.Tech and save one year of academic study or you want admission in Indian Institutes of Technology. If the answer is IIT then as mentioned above you will have to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam.

This is a new exam format introduced for the first time in 2013. It was introduced after scrapping AIEEE and IIT-JEE entrance exams. There are two stages of JEE. You will have to clear them both to get admission in Indian Institutes of Technology.


JEE Eligibility

1. You should have passed 12th Class.

2. Subjects in High school should be Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

3. It is also possible for diploma holders to apply.

4. But you should have completed 3-4 years diploma from AICTE recognized college.

5. There is no marks criteria.

6. You should be less than 25 years old.

7. Upper age limit is 30 years for SC/ST.


JEE Mains will be conducted first and the top 150,000 will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced which is conducted for admission in IITs.

You should have complted 12th and you should be among top 20 percentile in your boards. For giving IIT exam you should first have to clear JEE Main(AIEEE) and you should get rank less than 1.5 lakhs to eligible to give IIT Exam. hope you got it.
You can give IIT just 3 times.

The Minimum qualification that you should have if you want to appear
in the ITT entrance exam are :

*You must have passed higher secondary (12th) from any recognized board .

*You must have a minimum of 60% marks in 12th

*You must have PCM as your main subjects.

*Appearing students can also apply for the exam.

*Sc, ST and pd candidates are required to secure minimum of 55% marks in respective examination

Hello guys..

The qualification is depends upon the graduation course which you have taken for Gate Exam For MTECH as i cleared u..

1.For engineering - B tech of any subject is eligible because it is of 4 years
2.For Other -Masters is the minimum requirement

For DIRECT ENTRY YOU HAVE TO BE ABOVE 95% if you want to do btech in IIT.

IIT - Indian Institute of Technology conducts entrance exam as IIT JEE for admission to under Graduate B.Tech. courses in IIT.

Minimum Qualification for IIT:-

-The candidate must be an Indian National.
-Should have either appeared for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 60% marks from a recognised Board.
-Should be within the age of 17 to 25 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The eligible candidate are allowed to go through the IIT JEE entrance exam and on the basis of score one is admitted to IIT.

Friend as you may know it is a reputed and top level technology University in India.

For entering into IIT after 12th you must crack the IIT-JEE exam which is one of the toughest exams in the country.

Then you are eligible for doing graduate courses below science stream.

As you have asked that a diploma holder can take admission in IIT then the answer is yes. But friend its only for post graduation courses like MBA,M.Tech,ME through the entrance exam called as GATE.

So first of all you will have to complete your graduation from a recognized university. After completing graduation you can apply for GATE which is again a very tough exam to crack.

So in this way a diploma holder can take admission to IIT.

In respect of those students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2012, the eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). For those candidates who appear in their Board exams for the first time in 2013, the eligibility criteria will remain ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their Boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

For those students who passed their 12th Board exams in 2012 but are re-appearing in the 2013 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, 60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results and ‘top 20 percentile’ rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results. This too will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

and not above the age of 21. You must have completed your Class 12 from
