The CA is a highly respected course in India, and very difficult to qualify. A Chartered Accountant has the whole world full of opportunities open to him. On the private side he can start his career in the finance, accounting departments and go as far as the CFO. He can pursue a career in BPOs (Accenture, Infosys, Shell, foreign banks etc.) also. A lot of foreign companies are outsourcing their accounting/finance activities to India expecting to be served by the CAs. The salary and perks are very attractive.
On the government side CAs are required by number of organisations for various positions. The companies like NTPC, PGCIL, Assam Oil India, Balmer Lawrie, HMT, Engineers India, GAIL etc.
The starting salary for the CA will be around Rs 4 Lakhs/ annum. It is advisable to take up a position on the private side from a career and financial perspective.
