IPS stands for the Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer one must appear in the Civil Service Examination. The responsibility of conducting Civil Service Exam is of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

IPS officer has various responsibilities including providing security cover to the VIP. This is especially done when a celebrity or Politician visits a danger zone. Other responsibilities include tackling drugs smuggling to India through bordering states. Also in the states with international borders, IPS officer takes part in counter terrorism operations along with BSF and CRPF.

IPS officer also plays important role during the riot like situation and could be called upon by the Chief Minister or other senior ministers in the state government to get information about the situation. He/She may advice them about possible next step to prevent the riots.


Eligibility

>> Only Indian citizens may apply for Civil Service Examination.

>> A graduation degree in any stream is required.


Age Limit

>> The age limit is 21 to 30 years for IPS.

>> Age limit is extended to 33 years for OBC.

>> The SC/ST gets 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.


Physical Requirements (Women)

>>Chest<<

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm

>>Height<<

Female - 150 cm General and 145 cm for ST.


>>Eye Sight<<

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye

No color blindness or night blindness

The women candidate should not be pregnent at the time of medical tests.

Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm.
Blood pressure (High) – Age 23 – 123, age 24 – 124, age 25 –122, age 28 – 124, age 30 –125, age 32 – 126, age 34 – 127.
Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical Test.
Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000.

IPS - INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, to become an IPS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness.

There is a certain minimum Physical requirement for candidate aspiring for IPS.

HEIGHT :- General Male-165cm and Female-150cm when SC/ST Male should be 160cm and Female should be 145cm

CHEST:- Male should have 85cm while Female should have 79cm with expansion of 5cm in both the cases.

If you are Aspiring to become an IPS officer then you must have to full fill the following Qualification Requirement....

>> A candidate must have completed their Graduation Degree in any Stream form Recognized Universities. Final year student may also applicable.

>> Age Limit:

A candidate age should be between 21-30 years for General and there is a relaxation is available for OBC +3 years and for SC/ST +5 years at upper age.

OBC Category : 7 Times

Most of the candidate are failed in their Medical test. There are Tewo Medical test are conducted Medical test-I before Interview if a candidate is failed in 1st test say ex. A candidate can't expand his/her Chest then he/she failed but after Interview Medical Test - II conducted and if he/she Qualify in This test then he/she will selected....

There should not be any such rigid rule for hight. Because many people posses some high ambition to be an IPS officer but lack of such psysical fitness they can not reach todards their dreams. Importantly, since it is an officer level position so here intelligent power is very much require in comprision to psysical fitness

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Educational Qualifications for IPS :
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
