what is the process to become an astronaut after diploma...please tell me the procedure

My friend the procedure to become Astronaut is very long and complex. You can't become Astronaut merely with diploma degree. First thing you should know about becoming astronaut is that it is a very lengthy process. It would easily take more than 10 years before you can become astronaut.


Other thing you should keep in mind is that the only place for you to become astronaut is NASA. There is no such scope in Indian Space Research Organization as for now. However may be in the future there would be openings for the astronaut.


The job of astronaut is not merely spending time in space for various days, but it includes maintainence of international space station or even the Hubble telescope. Operating a space shuttle itself is quite complex therefore one need to have sufficient qualification to handle such tasks.


Now I am assuming that you have completed diploma in Engineering course. From now on here is what you need to do.

1. Take admission for B.Tech in Aerospace through lateral entry.

2. After completing B.Tech you will have to apply for M.Tech followed by PhD.

3. Next you will have to gain 3 years of related and progressively experience to become Mission Specialist at NASA.

4. After gaining the experience you can appear for the NASA entrance exam for scientists and astronauts.


This exam would be very competitve and only after passing this exam you will get a chance to become astronaut with NASA. But before you could fly into space, there would be a need to go through various training that each astronaut has to go through. NASA has created facility to train candidates to handle zero gravity and other challenges of the space.
