Quote:
So it is good to start as early as possible but no need to sit with General studies books or any other upsc Civils services books now it self but preparing the base for your IAS preparation should be done in a very slow and study process. Did you get me by the above words that means you have to build a strong foundation in the subjects which will you deeply going to study for IAS preparation. For that all you need to do is study and observe all the things around you by watching television news, by reading news paper ,by developing leadership qualities etc., For IAS/IPS there will be a common entrance test and therefore a common syllabus. Only the change comes when you have opted for certain choices after the third stage of interview. Till then everything is same for every candidate. For future preparation start the preparation at the age of 20 or 21 years as you are eligible for IAS entrance after 21 years of age only meanwhile you will get your provisional degree certificate. You can seriously sit for preparation with/without coaching . With coaching because as you will clearly understand latest trends of the examination and you can easily face the competition through mock tests conducted by the institutes. So friend this is all about your preparation strategies anyways it is a endless topic. It will be more clear if you express your doubt in a particular area. all the best regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: What is the right time for preparation for IPS or IAS exam?
there is no way that you can write the main exam without writing the preliminary because on the final rank even the preliminary marks are counted that means its not just for qualification but its marks also count in the over all evaluation, also the from this year onwards the preliminary exam also checks the aptitude of the students .As far as the number of attempts are concerned its four for an general category student and 7 for backward class candidates and its unlimited for sc/st candidates as far as they satisfy the age eligibility criteria .
Also i have to mention that civil services exam is for both IAS AND IPS and also many other departments which help in the administration of the government ,the list is very high so i am attaching the IAS notification to give you the complete details |

Hi,
Since, IAS/ IPS exams calls for graduation as minimum qualification. You can start preparing for IAS while doing graduation and apply for CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test as soon as you complte your graduation. UPSC - Union Public Service Commission conducts CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test for IAS. There are three stages of this exam - 1- Preliminary exam 2- Main exam 3- Interview Eligibility criteria for CSAT- 1. Candidate should be of Indian origin. 2- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. 3- Age - 21-30 years. |
