When i should start for preparing GATE exam? I am in 6th semester currently

As you are in 6th semester now,You can atart preparing from now.Dont waste your time and at least keep one hour for preparing everyday.

Gate exam is for admission to IITs ,NITs and various colleges.

You can refer the past year solved questions for practice.

Book: Gate books,Satya prakashan.

Should i start preparing for GATE exam right from my second year mech?

Candidates who are preparing for GATE exam should start preparation from 4th semester itself,minimum 2-3hours per day of preparation is must.Then only the candidate will get through the exam with highest marks.For best preparation candidate should join a standard coaching class like VANI,GATEFORUM,BRILLIANT etc.,.Most of the toppers will come from these centres.

Yes this is the writ time start preparing it from now & firstly prepare those topics which are in your current semister as well as in GATE syllabus

Utilize your weekend ,time after every sessionals & summer training time after 6th sem.

most of the GATE aspirant starts their preparation by fourth preparation as its consists of vast syllabus...you need to make your basic right and for that you need to also attain classes during BE as its almost based on BE syllabus..so i feel that starting the preparation by fourth sem will be perfect platform and you will have ample time for preparation and its always better than last minute preparation...

Dear pal,
there is nothing like right time for preparation for the GATE exam. The syllabus for the exam includes the subjects that you have studied during your bachelor degree course from the second year.
So you need to prepare well which could be made easy by concentrating in the class so that you need not spend more time for the preparation. You need to concentrate more and good marks in the exam. The questions asked in the exam includes basics and so you need to have good knowledge in the field.
But it is not possible to complete the exam without havin a good knowledge in the field. So you can start your preparation from your second year and you will be able to easily crack the exam with good score so that you can apply for public sector units as well as for the masters degree in engineering.
