Hello, I'm a class 11 student and i'm really interested to become an IPS officer someday.But in order to achieve my goal, i need some advice to plan out things.
I want to know how can i improve upon myself from right now.
My subjects in class 11 are:
Psychology
Sociology
Political Science
Mass Media
English

Minimum qualification is graduation in any discipline.
IPS is a part of Civil Services, and its exams are conducted by UPSC. Anyone who has completed 21 years of age on 1st August of the year can apply for IPS exam. You can read more information on this from the website of UPSC. Before appearing for Civil Services examinations, it is advisable to build an alternative career for yourself.


To become IPS Officer you need to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, This examination was Conducted by UPSC Every year in Two Stages, Preliminary examination and Main examination.

Preliminary examination was Objective and there are 2 Papers in this examination and both are of same marks and Duration, Those who cracked the preliminary examination eligible for Main examination, So please prepare well for Preliminary examination according to the Syllabus, Only then you will be able to cracked this examination.

Eligiblity Criteria -

>> You need to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised university.

>> Final year graduate candidates are also apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

I.A.S exam exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Qualification:- Pass graduation with any stream from recginiced university.

There is no specific need to specialise in any particular course for IPS, which is part of the Civil Services Examination. All that you need to fulfill is to have a degree.

So, choose a subject which interests you, Arts, Engineering, Management, Medicine, anything, and decide.

You may also go through the notification of UPSC for the Civil Services Examination. It lists out the syllabus for the various papers. You may also see the Previous Years Question Papers (Three years are hosted there) hosted on the same website. The website address is: upsc.gov.in

You have one more year to go. Please take a careful decision. However, a word of caution! Keep in mind the contingency of not getting through the exam. Though more attempts are permitted, the degree obtained by you should be able to feed you till you exhaust all the attempts.

It does not really matters what subject you choose in class 11 as the main eligibility criteria to sit for this exam is that you have to be a graduate in any discipline. Therefore i would suggest you to go ahead with something which interests you. which you know you will be able to handle efficiently.

For IPS Your age should be between 21-30 years.

There is relaxation for the SC/ST/OBC category.

The selection procedure includes preliminary exam, main exam and personal interview.

At the most you can give this exam for four times.

Minimum height for male is 165 cm and for female it is 150 cm.
Chest size for male should be minimum 84 cm, expandable upto 5cm. In case of female it is 79cm, expandable upto 5cm.

Eye:- 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.

dear aspirant,
as we want to become an IPS officer the for that you must be eligible to that ,so that the requrirements required to apper for IPS are,
>>you must be graduated
>>age limit 21 -31 yr.

and for that you also have best personality.

You should only focus on completing 11th right now and after it you should concentrate on 12th. The subjects you have mentioned will not be any issue when applying for the Indian Police Service.

You can have any subjects in 11th and 12th and complete any graduation course and yet apply for the Indian Police Service. Right now my advice to you would be to complete school and take admission for college.

However there are still some things that you can do. For example if your English is not good then improve it. Try to have conversations in English. Read English newspapers and watch a lot of English news/shows. It will certainly help you. Take help from any relative whose English in excellent. Work on the grammar.

You should also watch some news and read political magazines just to keep yourself updated. Another important aspect of the Indian Police Service is physical Criteria. Make sure you are physically fit.

It means that you must meet the height, vision, weight criteria. Apart from that you must be able to run good distance. Apart from all these, there is nothing which you should be worried about right now.

The real preparation should be started during either final year of graduation course or after completing it. Must give yourself 8 to 10 months to prepare for the Civil Services Examination.


IPS Eligibility

1. You will have to be Indian citizen.

2. Under graduate degree is the qualification criteria.

3. There is no criteria for marks.

4. 21 to 30 years is the age limit for General candidates.

5. OBC - The age limit is 21 to 33 years.

6. SC/ST - You can apply for IPS from 21 years to 35 years.


Physical Criteria

Male

1. Height should be 165 cm and for ST the requirement is 160 cm.

There is no specific stream to purse in 11th to become an IPS officer. One can take any stream and complete the level of education and become a Graduate Degree holder in any stream in which he/she is comfortable.
