Hello, I'm a class 11 student and i'm really interested to become an IPS officer someday.But in order to achieve my goal, i need some advice to plan out things.
I want to know how can i improve upon myself from right now.
My subjects in class 11 are:
Psychology
Sociology
Political Science
Mass Media
English

Minimum qualification is graduation in any discipline.
IPS is a part of Civil Services, and its exams are conducted by UPSC. Anyone who has completed 21 years of age on 1st August of the year can apply for IPS exam. You can read more information on this from the website of UPSC. Before appearing for Civil Services examinations, it is advisable to build an alternative career for yourself.


To become IPS Officer you need to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, This examination was Conducted by UPSC Every year in Two Stages, Preliminary examination and Main examination.

Preliminary examination was Objective and there are 2 Papers in this examination and both are of same marks and Duration, Those who cracked the preliminary examination eligible for Main examination, So please prepare well for Preliminary examination according to the Syllabus, Only then you will be able to cracked this examination.

Eligiblity Criteria -

>> You need to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised university.

>> Final year graduate candidates are also apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

>> Your age should between 21 to 30 years.

>> There is No minimum percentage is Required to apply for this examination.

There are no standard rules that only candidates of particular stream in 11th class are eligible to join as IPS.

So, you can opt for any stream in 10+2 which you are interested.

In order to become IPS officer, one has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

The selection procedure is by
-CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university in order to be eligible for this course.

Even the candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation are also eligible to take up this exam but they should be able to show the proof of Graduation passing when you appear for Interview.

Try to pursue your academics well both in 12th class and Graduation.

Develop good General knowledge which will be very vital to crack civil services exam. Make continuous updations to the knowledge that you gained.

Start taking coaching for this civil services exam from the 2nd year of Graduation course.

If you want want to become I.P.S then you have to pass the graduation with ant stream or side.

I.A.S exam exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Qualification:- Pass graduation with any stream from recginiced university.

Age limit:-
For Open category:- 21-30 year
For OBC category:- 21-33 YEAR
For ST/SC category:- 21-37 year

Number of Attempts:-
For open category:- 4 attempts

You want to become an IPS officer then you have to qualify in IPS exam..

Eligibility for IPS exam:-

1.Candidate has to complete the graduation in any trade.

2.Final year candidates can also apply for IPS exam.

3.Candidates age should be in between 21-30 years.
For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years..

4.Candidate should be physically fit.

5.One must be a citizen of India.

These are the eligibility criteria you have to fulfill.

It does not matter that in which stream you have done the graduation.. All you need is , you have to complete the graduation.

Others:
Good listening & normal ear cavity. Candidate should not stammer while speaking.

So you have to work very hard to keep yourself fit.

And you also prepare very well, you can follow some books also, read daily newspaper and keep a knowledge on general awareness.

But you should know about the prepearation of IPS study.
1.you have to complete your graduation in any stream.
2.you have to well known about current affairs,and historical figure and geography knowledge.

There is no specific need to specialise in any particular course for IPS, which is part of the Civil Services Examination. All that you need to fulfill is to have a degree.

So, choose a subject which interests you, Arts, Engineering, Management, Medicine, anything, and decide.

You may also go through the notification of UPSC for the Civil Services Examination. It lists out the syllabus for the various papers. You may also see the Previous Years Question Papers (Three years are hosted there) hosted on the same website. The website address is: upsc.gov.in

You have one more year to go. Please take a careful decision. However, a word of caution! Keep in mind the contingency of not getting through the exam. Though more attempts are permitted, the degree obtained by you should be able to feed you till you exhaust all the attempts.
