CDS : Combined Defence Services
The CDS examination is conducted by UPSC. The examination is conducted twice a year for entry at officer level in defence services. There are four wings of CDS. Indian Millitary Academy Air Force Academy Indian Naval Academy Officers' Training Academy At the time of application, you will have to mention that which academy(or academies) you are willing to apply for. The CDS examination comprises of three papers which are, English (100 marks) General Mathematics (100 marks) General Knowledge (100 marks) If you apply for Officers' Training Academy only then you will have only two papers in the examination which are; English and General Knowledge. The eligibility criteria for different academies are as under; Indian Millitary Academy Age: 19-24 Years Education: Graduation in any stream from a recognized university. Air Force Academy Age: 19-23 Years Education: B.Sc. with Maths. and Physics or B.E. Indian Naval Academy Age: 19-22 Years Education: B.Sc. with Maths. and Physics or B.E. Officers' Training Academy Age: 19-25 Years Education: Graduation in any stream from a recognized university. SYLLABUS The question standard in Mathematics paper will be of Matriculation (10th) level. ENGLISH The questions will be based on general grammar and comprehension for test of English language understanding and workmanlike use of words. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE Current Affairs History of Indian Geography etc. ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS The maths. paper shall contain question from following sections. ARITHMETIC, ALGEBRA, TRIGONOMETRY, GEOMETRY, MENSURATION, STATISTICS For detailed syllabus you should refer the UPSC website. http://upsc.gov.in/ |

The last exam of Combined Defence Services was held by UPSC on 12th Feb. UPSC conducts this exam twice in a year.
The exam aims to test the candidate's proficiency in English, General Knowledge and Maths. the detailed syllabus is given in the notification. Even though the exam is already over, you can still see the last notification in the UPSC website http://www.upsc.gov.in under Examinations->Notification->Archival. The next exam is likely to be notified on 2nd June and the date of exam will be 16th Sept. |

CDS stands COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE
CDS examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. This exam is conducted for the selection of candidate as an officer in Air force, Army and Navy. Educational Qualification :- For IMA /OTA : A degree from a recognized University or equivalent. For Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering. For Air Force Academy: B.Sc. of a recognized University or equivalent with Physics and/or Mathematics as subjects or Bachelor of Engineering. Age Criteria :- For IMA: 19-24 years For Naval Academy: 19-22 years For Air Force Academy: 19-23 years For Officers Training Academy: 19-25 years Pattern for CDS exam :- I have attached the syllabus and Question Papers of CDS exam so please check it out.This attachment are really helpful for you . Officers Training Academy & Indian Military Academy : Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university... Naval Academy : A Degree in Engineering OR Graduation with Physics and Maths as Subjects Final years students also eligible for this exam.... Citizen of India... ABOUT CDS EXAM : The "Combined Defence Services" Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). > > For Indian Military Academy/Officers' Training Academy: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent. > > For Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering. > > For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering.
