Age limit for IAS examination is 21 to 30 years. This age limit applies for those who belong to General category.

And those who are from reserved category will get age relaxation according to the orders of the Government.

SC/ST candidates get 5 years age relaxation and OBC gets 3 years relaxation. Also age relaxation is available for Ex Servicemen.

Graduation is the minimum qualification needed to apply for IAS examination. So if you have this qualification and age then you can apply for the exam.

Exam Pattern:

-Preliminary Exam

-Mains Exam

-Personality Test

General category will get 4 attempts and OBC will get 7 chance for IAS examination.

For SC/ST there is no such limit in attempts.

Indian Administrative Service entrance exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on the yearly basis. The notification is issued towards the early part of the year.

The notification is followed by preliminary exam in May and main exam in August. To appear you should be less than 30 years of age as on the August 1 of examination year. Please check the criteria.

IAS Eligibility

1. Candidate should have Indian citizenship.

2. A bachelor's degree from any recognized college.

3. No criteria to marks.

4. The age limit is 21 (lower) and 30 (upper).

5. OBC can have 3 years relaxation in upper age.

6. 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

I am afraid that you are not eligible for the Civil Services Examination. The age criteria for general candidate is 30 years which you crossed in 2010. Therefore you must consider some other career option.

As you can see above that only SC/ST/OBC are given relaxation in upper age limit which enables then to appear after the age limit of 30 years. This is not applicable to you.
