Re: Whether NIT allows lateral entry for Diploma holders in to their engineering courses or not?
There is no provision of lateral entry in National Institute of Technology. Diploma candidates can not get admission in NITs for B.Tech course.
However, diploma candidates are eligible for admission in Indian Institute of Technology. For this, candidates must apply for Joint Entrance Examination and clear its both stages, JEE Main and Advanced for admission in IITs. JEE 2019 notification will be released in December, 2018. |

No, you are not eligible to get admission in B.Tech course through lateral entry in NIT.
Candidates are eligible to get admission in B.Tech course through lateral entry only in private and state government colleges. So, you are eligible to get admission in private college or in State government engineering college. |

National Institute of Technology does not allow diploma candidates to pursue Bachelor of technology. In simple words, you are not eligible for admission in NITs.
But you are eligible for admission in IITs. JEE Main and Advanced are two stages to crack to get admission in IITs. Diploma candidates can apply for other exams like: Lateral Entry Entrance Test: You should have at least 60% marks in diploma. |

No, you can't get admission in B.Tech course through lateral entry after completion of your Diploma in Civil Engineering course. NITs doesn't offer lateral entry admissions in B.E/B.Tech course to candidates who have passed Diploma course. Only candidates who have passed 12th standard with PCM stream and those who have passed and secured good rank in JEE Main examination are eligible to get admission in NIT.

NIT is National Institute of Technology and it is among the premier government colleges for technical courses.
To get admission in B.Tech course, you have to appear and qualify in JEE Main entrance examination. There is no admission through lateral admission in the institute. So, you are not eligible for admission in 2nd year. Diploma passed candidates are not eligible to get admission in NIT. |
