Minimum qualification required to apply for CBI examination is completing a degree course from a recognized Institution. SSC CGL exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

Age criteria:-

1. Sub Inspectors in CPOs – 20 years to 25 years
2. Assistant / Sub Inspector in CBI – 20 years to 27 years
3. Statistical Investigators – Maximum 26 years
4. For all other posts – 18 years to 27 years.

Upper age relaxation for OBC is up to 3 years.
For SC/ ST , it is up to 5 years.
For PWD it is up to 10 years

Eligibility Required to apply for CBI Recruitment:

>> Candidates are required to complete Graduation or any Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

>> Candidates who have secured minimum 55% marks or above only are eligible to apply for CBI Recruitments.

>> The minimum age of a candidate must be 20 years and the maximum age must not exceed 30 years.

>> Of Course, there will be an age relaxation for reserved category candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ Ex-Servicemen) of 5 years/ 5 years/ 3 years/ 10 years/ 10 years respectively.

How to apply for CBI Recruitment Exams:

To become CBI Officer or Inspector, you are required to write an exam called "Combined Graduate Level Examination" which is conducted by Staff Selection Commission.

>> Recently on 1st May, Staff Selection Board has issued CGL 2015 notification for filling up vacancies under several government departments.

>> While form filling and giving preferences, you are required to prefer CBI Inspector as the first preference.

Eligibility to join CBI :

Candidate must have completed his/her graduation from any recognised university or any equivalent qualification.
Candidate must have secured 50% marks in 12th class.

Age limit : Age of candidate must be from 20 to 25 years.
Age relaxation is also provided as per government norms.
Age relaxation is as follows :

OBC candidates : 5 years
SC/ST candidates : 7 years

Candidate must be physically and Mentally fit.

Selection procedure :

Written Exams : First of all candidate have to pass written exam that is conducted
Exam Pattern :


Candidate can apply for exam online as well as offline.

Physical test : Candidate who have passed written exam will be called for physical test.

Personal Interview : Candidates who are selected in physical test will be called for Personal Interview. It is the last stage of recruitment.

For your kind notice, CBI does not conduct direct or open recruitment process for any post available in it, officers and other employees in CBI are recruited on the basis of promotion from little related branches, appointed directly after relieving from one service like from Army etc. or may be directly appointed from CID or IB department so this is the procedure and if you want to become a CBI Officer then you need to have in a government job in police or defense or army or IB etc. departments.

If you are an Officer in Police Services of India then you might be appointed to become CBI Officer on the basis of your work and record you maintained while your job in Police Services.

CBI also recruits departmental SPs means Superintendent of Police and only those who have served for minimum 10 years of period in Police Services of India so you should prepare for Police exams first and become an inspector/ officer in police services.

Those candidates who were on the rank of Major/ Commandant/ Assistant Commandant etc. in Indian Defense Services are appointed by CBI after their formal retirement from the services because such services releases employees after 40-45 years of age so after this job, they are appointed by CBI.

IB - Intelligence Bureau officers and assistants are promoted for higher posts and appointed by CBI services.

Those candidates who are in services or police department like - Narcotics Bureau or Inspector in CAPF/ CISF etc. are appointed by the CBI for different posts other than investigation officers.

If you are in CID - Crime Investigation Department or an Income Tax Inspector or some other related posts then also you might be considered a suitable employee for CBI.

Finally you have got information that, CBI does not have any direct appointment or recruitment process like exam then interviews and posting so you need to be in services then only you can enter such services.

To get eligibility for the CBI examination candidate should write the CGPE entrance exam.

>>you need to complete your Undergraduate degree in any Discipline

>>Your Minimum Age limit is 20years of age

>>Maximum age limit for general Candidate is 27years of age

>>Maximum age limit for OBC Candidate is 30years of age
