My name is Ajomon Varghese. I was completed my 12th in Humanities group and i'm interested in joining Indian Navy. Is it possible to join in Indian Navy with this qualification or I need any more qualification?

To join in Indian Navy after completion of your 12th standard, you need to appear in NDA examination which is conducted by UPSC twice a year and the eligibility criteria required to appear in NDA examination is mentioned below :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must have attained the minimum age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the maximum age of 19 years.

3. You must have completed 12th standard or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics subjects from a recognised board.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate

5. You must be Physically fit as per physical standards mentioned in the UPSC NDA examination notification.

Since, you have completed 12th standard with Humanities stream and if you had pursued Mathematics and Physics subjects, then, you are eligible to appear in NDA examination and you can join in Indian Navy else you are not eligible to appear in NDA examination and you cannot join in Indian Navy.

To join in Indian navy after 12th , you need to appear for the NDA exam . But , to join in Navy through NDA exam , you shouldhave taken PCM subjects in 12th .
P-Physics
C-Chemistry
M-Maths


So,now you are not eligible to join in Navy now with your 12th humanities subject as qualification .

You can join navy after completion of Graduation .

After completion of Graduation , you can apply for the different posts as well as Cds exam .
CDS stands for combined defence service which is an entrance exam to join in defence services which will conduct by upsc , twice in every year.

Age shouldbe in between 19-22 years to join in Navy through cds exam

One can join Indian Army through NDA(National defense Academy) exam conducted by UPSC twice a year.

The qualification required to join Indian Navy is 10+2 class with Physics,chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board.

As,you have passed your 10+2 degree with Humanities.So,you are not eligible to join Indian Navy with your qualification.

Instead of Indian Navy,you can opt for Indian Military Academy of NDA with your present qualification.

The eligibility criteria for IMA are as under:-

-The candidate should be a citizen of India.

-The age limit to apply for the exam is from 16.5 years to 19 years.

-The qualification for the exam is 10+2 in any discipline from a recognized university/board.

-Only unmarried male candidate can apply for the exam.

The qualification required to join Indian Navy is 10+2 class with Physics,chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board. As,you have passed your 10+2 degree with Humanities.So,you are not eligible to join Indian Navy with your qualification.
