What is the highest rank in Indian Police Service?


I want to be in police service. I aspire to be a top police officer of India. I want to know about the highest rank in Indian Police Service?

Director General of Police is the highest rank in Indian Police Services. One has to be experienced and talented to get to this level of post.

You have to apply for Civil services exam which is conducted by UPSC if you aspire to join Indian Police Services as an officer.

The highest rank in Indian Police Service is Director of Intelligence Bureau Grade.

The others ranks are,

Special Commissioner of Police

Joint Commissioner of Police or Inspector General of Police
Additional commissioner of Police or Deputy Inspector General of Police

Deputy Commissioner of Police

Deputy Commissioner of Police or Superintendent of Police
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police

Assistant Commissioner of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)

If you want to join Indian Police Service, you must crack the Civil Services examination conducted by the UPSC every year. To be eligible for this exam, a candidate must be graduate or in final year of graduation in any discipline from a recognized university and the age limit is 21-32 years with upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

Ranks in Indian Police Services in preceding manner are as below:

>>Director General of Police or Commissioner of Police.

>>Additional Director General of Police.

>>Joint Commissioner of Police or Inspector General of Police.

>>Deputy Inspector General of Police.

>>Deputy Commissioner of Police or Superintendent of Police.

>>Additional Superintendent of Police.

>>Assistant Superintendent of Police.

Highest rank in police is Director General of Police in IPS (Indian police service) conducted by UPSC.you can join this post by civil service examination.
Other ranks are given below-
CP (commissioner of police) , joint CP , dipty inspector , DCP , ADCP , DSP , ASP etc
