Hi, my name is Mukesh Yadav and I have done my diploma in mechanical engineering in 2015, and now I am thinking to change my branch in lateral entry admission of B.Tech from mechanical to electronics engineering is it beneficial for me or not? Should I change my branch or remain its same as mechanical?

No, you can't change your stream to Mechanical Engineering for pursuing your higher studies after completion of your three years Diploma in Electronics Engineering course. Being a Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering, you are eligible to get direct admission in second year of four years Mechanical Engineering course through lateral entry admission process, but not in Electronics Engineering course. It is beneficial for you, if pursue your higher studies in Mechanical Engineering course instead of changing to Electronics Engineering course.

Sorry to inform you that you can't switch your stream from Mechanical engineering to Electronic Engineering while applying for lateral entry admission to B.Tech.You are only allowed to choose stream for B.Tech in which you have pursued diploma course.
In order to take different stream you have to try to get admission in B.Tech directly after your 12th standard.
As per my knowledge, it's not beneficial to loss 2-3 years to choose different engineering stream.
You should continue with you mechanical engineering for Bachelor's degree as it has vast scope in future.
