Both JEE Main and JEE Advanced are the joint entrance examinations which are conducted for admission to first B.Tech courses at NITs and IITs. Candidates who have completed 12th standard or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects from a recognised board are eligible to appear in JEE Main examination. And the candidates who have completed 12th standard and who have appeared and secured top 1,50,000 rank in JEE Main examination are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced examination.

By securing good rank in JEE Main examination, you can get admission in NITs for pursuing your B.Tech course whereas if you secure good rank in JEE Advanced examination, you can get admission in IITs for pursuing your B.Tech course.

Any candidate, who want to get admission in IIT's should appear for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. Candidates, who will qualify JEE main exam are eligible to get admission in NIT's and even they can appear for JEE Advanced exam. If the candidate qualify JEE Advanced exam, then he will get an admission in any of the IIT's. So, if you can qualify only JEE main exam, you are eligible to get admission at only NIT's. To get admission in IIT's you have to qualify both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams.

There is a common exam called as JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) for the admission in the nationwide engineering colleges.

Its is conducted in 2 parts

* JEE Mains

* JEE Advanced

The candidates, first have to appear in the JEE Mains, and if qualify, they have to appear in the JEE Advanced and it is the whole procedure to get the admission in Engineering.
