Can I apply in UGC-NET to get stipend if studying PhD from Distance University?

Hello, I am doing PhD in Economics from a distance university at West Bengal. I have taken admission this year without NET or any entrance exam. But now I want stipend for my PhD. So, can I give UGC NET for getting stipend? Is this possible for me?

If your degree is recognized then you are eligible for UGC NET exam.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice time in year by UGC.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Your age should be below 28 years. There is no age criteria for lectureship post.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
