If you are university approved by UGC then definitely you are UGC NET entrance exam. For the National Eligibility Test (Net) candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from Universities/institutions recognized by UGC are only eligible to write the examination. This is the main criteria for the NET.

The eligibility criteria for the National Eligibility test:

General category candidates: Rs 1000

OBC candidates –Non Creamy Layer: Rs 500

SC/ST/PWD/VH candidates: Rs 250

Pattern of Examination:

The questions will be asked in the form of MCQ (Multiple Choice based questions) in the following major subjects –

1) Life Sciences

2) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences

3) Mathematical Sciences

4) Chemical Sciences

5) Physical Sciences

6) Engineering Sciences

Total Marks: 200

Total Exam Duration: 3 Hours

There will be negative marking for wrong attempts as per the subject wise scheme laid out for this exam.

Distance or regular post graduation from a recognized university is valid for NET. Just make sure that you have got at least 55% marks in your post graduation degree. If you belong to any reserved category then you can avail 5% relaxation in marks.

Therefore, don't worry if you have got your degree from a recognized distance university.

You have done post graduation degree from open university so you are eligible for UGC NET exam. If your degree is recognized.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice time in year by UGC.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Age criteria for NET exam:-

For JRF Post :-Your age should be below 28 years.

For Lectureship Post :-There is no age criteria.

ELIGIBILITY FOR NET:

# The candidate should have completed a Post graduate degree from a recognized university in any stream and that to should have completed wit hat least 55% aggregate in order to be eligible.

# If it is in the case that you belong to SC/ST/OBC category then you need to have got at least 50% aggregate.

# For Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years is allowed and the relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants.

# For Lectureship there is No upper age limit.


The exam consists of 3 papers in which Paper I & II is for 100 marks and Paper III is for 400 marks.
