Yes, you can appear for the National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission after pursuing master's degree from open university.
The eligibility criteria for the National Eligibility test: >>The candidate must have done master's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year candidates of master's degree can also apply for the exam. >>You must have scored at least 55% marks in the master's degree. For SC/ST candidates there is 5% relaxation in marks. >>There is no upper age limit for the post of lectureship through NET. For Junior Research fellowship, it is 28 years. One can apply for NET even after passing Post Graduation degree from an Open University.
NET stands for National Eligibility Test . It is an entrance examination conducted by UGC (university grant commission) at national level for the candidates who wishes to get teaching jobs in government university. Eligibility for appearing in NET are as under :- -The candidate must be an Indian. -The candidate should have completed Masters degree in related subjects with minimum 55% of marks.Final year appearing student can also apply for the exam. -There is no upper age limit to apply for the NET exam . Application Fee: General category candidates: Rs 1000 OBC candidates –Non Creamy Layer: Rs 500 SC/ST/PWD/VH candidates: Rs 250 Pattern of Examination: The questions will be asked in the form of MCQ (Multiple Choice based questions) in the following major subjects – 1) Life Sciences 2) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences 3) Mathematical Sciences 4) Chemical Sciences 5) Physical Sciences 6) Engineering Sciences Total Marks: 200 Total Exam Duration: 3 Hours There will be negative marking for wrong attempts as per the subject wise scheme laid out for this exam. |

Distance or regular post graduation from a recognized university is valid for NET. Just make sure that you have got at least 55% marks in your post graduation degree. If you belong to any reserved category then you can avail 5% relaxation in marks.
Therefore, don't worry if you have got your degree from a recognized distance university. |

Eligibility for NET examination:
1. The basic eligibility for appearing in NET examination is that the candidate should have a Masters degree or equivalent in related subjects from a recognized University. 2. Aspirants must have obtained a minimum of 55% in PG. 3. Aspirants appearing or have appeared for final year exams are also eligible. 4. Aspirants should have pursued their course as specified by UGC. 5. Candidates who have qualified the SET exam are also eligible to appear for this examination. |
