For becoming an IRS officer you need to apply for UPSC civil services exam. For this exam you need graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Selection will be based on the performance in the written exam and interview.

If you have the above qualification with age between 21 to 30 years then you can surely apply for this exam. Indian Revenue Services officers are recruited through civil services exam.

IRS stands for Indian Revenue Services. It comes under Civil Services of Indian Government. Entrance exam for this service is Civil Services examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Eligibility criteria:

1. Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. After Chartered Accountancy, you can apply for Civil Services exam.

2. Age limit is 21-32 years with upper age relaxed for reserved category candidates.

This exam has three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination: It consists of two papers, first paper is of General Studies Paper and second is of Civil Service Aptitude Test. CSAT is qualifying and you just need to score 33% in it.

2. Mains exam.

3. Interview.

This exam is considered to be one of the toughest exam of India and requires hard work with determination and dedication towards study. Being a full time professional, you may not be able to give proper time to preparation. You must at least study 6-7 hours everyday with consistency to clear this exam.
