Yes, you can join the merchant Navy after completing 10th standard. You can join through General Purpose Rating which includes Deck Crew and Engine Crew. It is mandatory for you to undergo Six months Pre-Sea training specially designed for General Purpose Rating. To participate in this Pre-Sea training, you must have passed in the 10th board examination with 40% marks. You must have had English as a main subject in 10th standard. Few institution where you can join merchant navy course after completing 10th standard.

Sorry, you cannot join Merchant Navy direct after completing your 10th std. Because, at least qualification require for Merchant Navy is 12th with PCM.

One who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) can apply for it. Candidate should possess at least 60% in their intermediate is necessary.

Category in Merchant Navy:

• Engineering
• Deck and
• Catering

So, first of all complete your 12th with PCM and then apply for it.
