Detailed information, pattern and marks allotment scheme of GRE?


Hello,
Can anyone tell me what is new
exam pattern for GRE examination?
Briefly discuss about the pattern
and marks allotment scheme for each section.

GRE stands for Graduate Record Examinations. Candidates who want to pursue Master's course or Ph.D courses in foreign universities can apply for GRE exam. And depending upon your score in GRE exam, you can apply for admission in some universities. And it is a exam, which is based on Analytical, Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning sections. It is conducted for 340 marks. Each and every candidate, who attends the exam will receive 260 marks initially, without any test and the exam is conducted for remaining 80 marks.

GRE Exam Pattern:-
The GRE exam is conducted in three sections

Section I:-(40 marks)
1) Verbal Reasoning
i) Reading Comprehension
ii) Text Completion
iii) Sentence Equivalence

Section II:-(40 marks)
1) Quantitative Reasoning

Section III:-(6 points)
1) Analytical Writing Assessment
i) Issue-Task essay
ii )Argument-Task essays

What is the use of section 3 points if already 80 marks are alloted for 1st and 2nd sections ?
