Budgam District was established in the year 1979 and before this year, it was a part of the district of Srinagar. The district is surrounded by four other districts namely Poonch District in the South Wast, Pulwana district to the south and Sringar and Barmullah districts to the north. This district in Jammu & Kashmir is the home for many stunning locations and has tremendous tourism potential that has so far remained largely untapped. Some of the attractive places in the district that would impress the visitors are Doodpather, Khag, Nilnag, Tosmaidan and Yousmarg.

History of Budgam District:

In olden days, Budgam was a part of the district of Baramulla, when the city of Srinagar itself was a constituent of the Anantnag District. It was then popularly known as Tehsil Sri Pratap. According to historical records the district was also referred to as Parganga Deesu and the area was also called as Deedmarbag.

Higher Education in Budgam District:

When it comes to higher education in the district of Budgam, most of the colleges in the district are affiliated to the University of Kashmir. As far as government colleges in this district are concerned, there are three government colleges that are offering arts, science and commerce courses with affiliation from the University of Kashmir and the names of these colleges are given below:

Government Degree College, Khansahib, Budgam

Government Degree College, Beerwah

Of these colleges, Government Degree College at the city of Kahnsahib came into existence in the year 2008, at the city of Budgam came into existence in the year 2005 and at the city of Beerwah, came into existence in the year 2005. These colleges was established recently by the government of Jammu & Kashmir as an initiative towards the educational development in the district of Budgam. These colleges are offering the best UG education with approval from the state government and they are popular for the best educational facilities offered.

In addition to these college, the government of Jammu & Kashmir as an initiative towards the development of technical education in the state is planning to introduce polytechnic colleges in 17 districts of the state of which one college is going to be established in Budgam District. The construction work of these colleges were assigned by the government of Jammu & Kashmir to the JK Project Construction Corporation and these colleges will soon begin their operations in appropriate districts with the support of the government of Jammu & Kashmir.

    RESPECTED SIR :-it is requsted ur goodself that i have passed BA ist year from govt degree college budgam as regular student and has also joined second year in the same time i have been appointed as contractual JE ,as a result i cannot attend the college regularly. IN SUCH CONDITIONS WHAT SHOULD I DO.PLZ INFORM ME
