Marketing begins with a well-defined market focus on customer requirements and marketing management is a field that co-ordinates all the activities that will affect customer end produces profits by offering them satisfaction. The process of marketing management begins with the identification of customer requirements by getting their feedback.
It is a comprehensive process that includes packaging, promotion, distribution, pricing, etc… and it entails satisfaction of consumers, who are considered as the focal point of the whole business organization and more specifically, the marketing department. While marketing lays attention on the requirements of consumers, selling is related to sellers themselves.
Education in marketing management:
The qualification and education relevant to marketing management can be obtained at the PG level by going in for Master of Business Administration course with specialization in marketing management. Apart from this, there are some management institutions that offer diploma courses on marketing management and offer a diploma or PG diploma in marketing management. Graduation in any filed is the minimum educational qualification required for joining in these courses. Selection of candidates to the marketing management course is done by most of the institutions based on the performance of candidates in the entrance examination and duration of the courses is somewhere between one and three years.
Areas of specializations:
When it comes to career in marketing management, candidates are left with the option of choosing from a wide range of specializations like advertising, marketing research, brand management, service marketing, market development, service management, logistics management, international marketing and direct response marketing.
Government jobs in Marketing Management in India:
Most of us think that the fields like advertising and marketing are confined only to private sector organization, but the fact is that even government/public sector management also do have their own marketing department for which they look for marketing management professionals for effective management of their marketing department. Most of the government organizations offer appointment to Marketing Management professionals as trainees and selected candidates are offered with training for some period (i.e.) six months or one year and thereafter they are permanently appointed based on their satisfactory performance during the period of training. Recently, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of Management Trainee (marketing) and the company announced that selected candidates will get a lumpsum stipend of Rs.23000 per month and on completion successful training period, they will be appointed in the pay scale of Rs.16400-40500.
Thus, marketing management is a field that not only offers private job opportunities, but also offers government job opportunities as well to eligible candidates.
