How to fill Combined Defense Services Examination forms?
Combined Defense Services Examination is organized by the Union Public Service Commission of India (UPSC) for the purpose of recruiting eligible candidates to the three armed forces of India. The short term and long term vacancies are filled by the candidates selected from this exam. This is a golden opportunity for the candidates who have interest in being a soldier. The salary packages offered in this field is very attractive. There are also many other benefits enjoyed by a soldier beyond the salary.
Eligibility for Combined Defense Services Examination
The candidate who is an Indian can apply for this exam. Candidates who is a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibet who is ready to accept the citizenship of India can also apply for this exam.
The candidates who are of Indian origin but who live in other countries can attend the exam. Preference is given to candidates from
- Burma
- Uganda
- Pakistan
- United Republic of Tanzania
- Zambia
- Malawi
- Zaire
- Ethiopia
- Sri Lanka
- Kenya
- Vietnam
The above mentioned candidates should produce an eligibility certificate from the Government of India.
- Unmarried male candidates in the age limit of 19-24 can apply for the posts in Indian Military Academy.
- Unmarried male candidates in the age limit of 19-22 can apply for the posts in Indian Naval Academy
- Unmarried male candidates in the age limit of 19-23 can apply for the posts in Indian Air Force Academy.
- Unmarried male and female candidates in the age limit of 19-25 can apply for the posts in officers training academy.
Candidates should have a degree in Bachelor of Science in Physics/Mathematics or Bachelor of Technical Education in any specialization to apply for the posts in Indian Air Force Academy and Indian Naval Academy and those who wish to apply for posts in Indian Military Academy or Officers Training Academy should have any degree from a recognized University as a minimum qualification.
Apart from these qualifications the candidate should have physical fitness to be a soldier which is the real necessity.
How to fill Combined Defense Services Examination forms?
The details for filling up the forms are as follows.
Offline forms:
- The candidate should use a ball point pen (black/blue) to fill the form
- It is recommended that the form should be filled by the candidate themselves
- The signature of the candidates should match with that in the original documents
- The candidate must produce the same recent passport size photograph in all the occasions specified.
- The thumb impression should be put in the space given.
- Candidate should not leave any space that is meant for putting their signature.
- The address of the candidate should be correctly mentioned.
- The category of the candidate should be clearly mentioned in the space allocated for it.
- The candidate should go through all the entered information once again to make sure that no mistake is made.
- The candidate is recommended to confirm that no mandatory columns are left blank.
Online forms:
- Candidate should go through all the data given in the Appendix 2(A) while filling up the online form
- There will be a drop down list provided for most of the questions, so be careful while choosing the option.
- The instruction regarding address, category, signature and photograph are same as that in the offline method.
- After filling up the form the candidate should click the submit button.
- The candidate is recommended to confirm that no mandatory columns are left blank before clicking the submit button.
- On clicking the submit button the candidate will receive an acknowledgement along with some relevant data which should be kept for future reference.
The candidates should apply for the exam through online method only. Only the candidates from the remote areas of the country are allowed to apply offline.

If scanned images of photograph and signature are found unacceptable , will i be allowed to re-submit scanned images of my photograph and signature ?
