Indian Institute of Sciences is a premier institute in the field of science and engineering. The institute was established in the year 1909 and has a glorious past associated with it. IISc is a highly reputed institute with a very good infrastructure and highly qualified and skilled faculty. The institute provides education in Post Graduate and Research programmes in various fields of science and engineering.

Candidates can apply for admission to PhD/Msc(Engg.) programmes through GATE / CSIR-UGC NET for JRF / UGC NET for JRF / ICMR JRF / DBT JRF / IISc Entrance Test / JEST / NBHM depending on their qualifications. The candidates shortlisted through any of these will be called for interviews before final selections.

Eligibility Criteria:

Master’s degree in Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture/ Humanities or its equivalent OR

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Biotechnology or its equivalent OR

Master’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture or its equivalent OR

Bachelor’s degree in Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science /Electronics  followed by qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE(like AMIE).

How to Apply:

The forms will be available at selected branches of Canara Bank and also from IISc. Candidates can also apply online through the website www.iisc.ernet.in.

IISc Entrance Test:

The Entrance Test will be of 3 hours duration and the candidates have to choose one of the following papers:

Atmospheric Sciences

Biological Sciences

Chemistry

Ecological Sciences

Mathematics / Statistics

Management Studies

Materials Science

• Commencement of Sale of Application forms: February 2nd week, 2011

• Last date of issue of application form: March 3rd week, 2011

• Last date of submission of completed application form: March 4th week, 2011

• IISc Entrance Test: April Last Sunday, 2011

• Interviews: June 2nd week, 2011
