Indian Statistical Institute organizes JRF in Library and Information Science Entrance Exam every year for the purpose of selecting eligible candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship program in Library and Information Science offered at the institute. This program is offered at Bangalore only. The selected people will be offered a stipend of Rs.12000/- per month.

Structure of Indian Statistical Institute JRF in Library and Information Science Entrance Exam

The exam comprises of two papers. One will be an objective paper. There will be multiple choices provided for each question. There will be a total of 60 questions for this exam. The second paper will contain descriptive type questions. The questions of this exam will be included from the subject. The candidates have to be thorough with the core areas of the subject in order to clear this exam.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have earned a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Indian Statistical Institute or from any recognized university in order to apply for this exam.

They should have scored at least 55% marks in the graduation program.

However there is relaxation for the reserved category candidates in the minimum requirements.

How to apply?

The application form and the prospectus of the exam can be obtained from any office of the Indian Statistical Institute by post or in person. They have to pay a fee of Rs. 450/- in cash to obtain the application form. The reserved category candidates need to pay only Rs.225/-. Or else they can take a DD in favour of “Indian Statistical Institute” payable at Kolkata. The candidates should send the completely filled application form along with the relevant documents to Indian Statistical Institute, 203 B. T. Road, Kolkata – 700 108 on or before the due date.

How to fill the Form?

The candidate should first go through the complete details regarding filling up the form given in the brochure. They should enter their name, contact details, qualification details and also other relevant details carefully. They should be sure that the completely filled application form reaches the specified address on or before the due date.
