The examination is held every year to recruit grade IV officers in the department of Statistical Services, ministry of economic services, planning commission or planning board etc. Candidates are required to have a good knowledge in statistics. Paper is held in 2 stages; written paper followed by an interview.

Qualification for appearing in this exam:

Paper is only for the candidates who are citizen of India. Minimum educational qualification required is post-graduation from a recognised University or institution in Statistics/Applied Statistics/Mathematical Statistics. Candidates in their final year can also apply. Age limitation is 21-30 years for the examination; however there is relaxation of 5 years in age for SC/ST candidates.

Scoring and Negative Marking:

Paper is of subjective type and this does not have provision of negative marking in it. Each question carries equal marks.

Mode of Exam:

Paper is a conventional one and it is needed to be answered in answer sheet by pen.

Format:

Paper is subjective one and all questions are of equal marks and there is only theoretical type of questions asked in this paper.

Paper Pattern:

Paper of Statistics III is of subjective questions. There are 8 questions asked in this, each question carries equal marks. Questions are further divided into 4-5 sub-questions. The examination is of 6 papers and after clearing these papers, students go through an interview to get recruited.

Marking:

Total marks asked in the paper are 200 and paper is of conventional type, these questions are further divided into 4-5 sub-questions. Marks are given on the accuracy of answer.

Schedule:

Time given to the paper is 3 hours only.
