JSS University or JSS Mahavidyapeeth came into existence in 1954 and the university is currently running more than 300 educational institutions right from primary education level to research programmes in the areas of management, law, arts & science, engineering & Technology, medical sciences, etc…
To take their educational journey to a greater height, the authorities of the universities approached Indian Government to offer some of its educational institutions with the status of Deemed University. As per their request, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Indian Government offered the institution with the status of Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University with JSS Medical College, JSS College of Pharmacy and JSS Dental College as its constituent institutions.

MBBS course admission is made by the JSS Medical College coming under JSS University based on the marks scored by the candidates in the Comed-K UGET entrance examination. While for BDS course, the entrance examination is conducted by the University itself in the name of JSS University Entrance Test.
