The state Himachal Pradesh came into being on 25th January, 1971. Before this the union public services commission looked after the recruitment of candidates into the government jobs in the union territory. As the union territory got the status of a state it felt the need of its own public services commission which came into being on 8th April, 1971.

The HPPSC provides job opportunities under various posts. The details of the post, the no. of vacancies available and other details are as given below:

i) Assistant engineer (electrical): 27 posts are vacant under this category. A pay scale of rs. 16650 – 39100 are offered under this post with a grade pay of rs. 5800.

ii) Assistant engineer (civil): 4 posts are vacant under this category. A pay scale of rs. 16650 – 39100 are offered under this post with a grade pay of rs. 5800.

iii) Lecturer mechanical engineering: 4 posts are vacant under this category. A pay scale of rs. 15600 – 39100 are offered under this post with a grade pay of rs. 6000.

iv) Veterinary officer: a total of 31 posts are available for the post of veterinary officer. A pay of rs. 21000 us being provided (15600 + grade pay of 5400)

v) Assistant professor: it has a total of 32 posts vacant under this category. A pay scale of rs. 37400 – 67000 are being provided along with a grade pay of 8900.

vi) Medical officer (general wing): 150 posts are vacant under this post. And it offers a pay scale of rs 7880 – 13500

Application fee: duly filled application forms should be submitted with an examination fee of rs. 250. The candidates belonging to the SC / ST / OBC groups of only Himachal Pradesh should submit an examination fee of rs.63 through a bank draft payable at any branch of bank of Shimla to the secretary h.p. public services commission, Shimla – 171002. For online mode the candidates need to pay rs 250 (rs 63 for SC / ST / OBC) through a challan by cash in the Punjab national bank.
