Pay Scale for District Judges in Government Jobs
Judge or Magistrate is the most cherished and coveted position in the judicial or legal system in any country. In a republic and democratic country like India, where in judiciary is as important as legislative of executive, the responsibilities and importance of judicial system and its custodians like judges cannot be undermined. District judges are appointed officials representing the district on criminal matters. Government organizations in India pay district judges on consolidated pay basis and they are paid a consolidated pay of Rs.51500-63070 in government organizations.

Educational qualification and experience:
To apply for the position of District judge in the court of laws belonging to the different states in India, candidates must have completed their UG course in law with not less than seven years of experience of working as a prosecutor or candidates must be PG degree holders in the field of law. Even PG degree holders, should have some years of experience to apply for the position of District judge.
Age requirement:
The courts of law appoint candidates between the age group of 35 and 45 years of age for the position of District Judges. However, in the case of reserved category candidates upper age limit is relaxed to certain number of years.
Selection Procedure:
The selection procedure for the position of civil judge differs from the high court belonging to one state to another. Some courts conduct written test and interview for selection of candidates, while some courts conduct personal interview alone to appoint district judges.
Office of District Judges:
Outside the courtroom, the office of district judges comprises of many individuals who service at the will of district judge. There will be an Assistant District Judge, who will work according to the instruction of the district judge.
Responsibilities of district judges:
The job of district judges is multifaceted; they will have to prosecute criminals in the particular district for which they are appointed as district judges. They are responsible for rectifying wrong doings committed against the public in their district. They often conduct pretrial hearings with a view to determine whether the evidence warrants the trial. In the case of criminal cases on the basis of arguments done by lawyers, they will have to decide whether to release the accused, to set bail or to hold defendants in jail.
