Headmaster in any educational institution serves as an instructional leader and evaluator of the staff of the institution and he is also responsible to take care of the operations of the building. The pay scale for the position of headmaster in government-run educational institutions differ from one institution to another, while most of the institutions follow their pay scale as Rs. 9300-34800 plus a grade pay of Rs. 4800.

As mentioned earlier, pay scale for the position of headmaster differs from one organization to another and recently the following government organizations called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of headmaster with the corresponding pay scale:

National Council of Education Research & Training – Rs. 15600-39100 plus a grade pay of Rs. 6600

Tripura Public Service Commission – Rs. 9570-30000 plus a grade pay of Rs. 3500

Rajasthan Public Service Commission - Rs. 9300-34800 plus a grade pay of Rs. 4800

Central Institute of Buddhist Studies - Rs. 9300-34800 plus a grade pay of Rs. 4600

Educational qualification needed for the position of Headmaster in Government jobs:

For finding job in the position of Headmaster in Government organizations, candidates must have completed their master’s degree in any stream of education or they must have completed their Bachelor of Education Course in any field of education with not less than 45% of marks from a recognized university. However, most of the government schools prefer candidates, who are trained teachers in any field of education. Even some government schools look for Ph. D degree holders for the position of head master.

Experience:

Most of the government-run educational institutions look for candidates with at least five years of teaching experience for the post of headmaster since the candidate is going to head the group of teachers, who have been working for that educational institution for quite a number of years.

Age requirement:

Since experienced candidates are appointed for the position of headmaster, candidates must be not more than 40 years of age to be able to apply for this position in government-run educational institutions.

Selection process:

Selection process for the position of headmaster differs from one organization to another, however, when it comes to public service commission recruitment, selection of candidates will be purely based on their performance in the written test, which will be of objective type questions.

Scope of development:

Since candidates appointed for the position of headmaster will be the chief administrative and supervisory official of that particular educational institution for which he is appointed, he will be offered with good pay scale after serving for two or three years in this position.
