Pay scale for Sociologist in Government Jobs
The work of sociologist is to study the social behavior and society by investigating the social institutions and groups formed by people and different business, political, religious and social organizations. Not only private organizations, but also government organizations recruit candidates for the position of sociologist depending on the need of their organization.
Normally, government organizations recruit candidates for the position of Sociologist for a consolidated pay scale of Rs. 60,000. However, this pay scale might differ and candidates appointed for the post of sociologist will be able to get a minimum pay scale of Rs. 10000 per month.
Recent job notification for the position of Sociologist:
Recently, for the position of Sociologist, the following government organizations called for applications from eligible candidates:
• Society of Integrated Coastal Management
• Wildlife Institute of India
Of these two organizations, Society of Integrated Coastal Management announced a consolidated pay of Rs. 60000, while Wildlife Institute of India announced a pay scale of Rs. 12000. The difference in this pay scale is due to the difference in the educational qualification required from candidates for the position of Sociologist in these two organizations.
Educational qualification required for the post of Sociologist:
Of the aforesaid two organizations, Society of Integrated Coastal Management called for application from candidates who have completed their Ph. D in Sociology, while the Wildlife Institute of India required that candidates must be Master of Arts/Science holders in Sociology.
What are the job responsibilities of a Sociologist?
Sociologist analyzes the characteristics of institutions, organizations and social group and the ways in which individuals are affected by each other and by the groups to which they belong. They also examine the effect of social traits like race, age, gender on the day-to-day activities of a person. The results of these investigations by sociologists are used by administrators, lawmakers and educations who are interested towards solving the problems in the society by formulating new policies.
