Procedure to become CAD Design Engineer

Courses in Computer Aided Designing (CAD) are value addition courses. The procedure involved in becoming a CAD design Engineer is a multiple stage process. It requires aspirants to choose particular fields in their high school and graduation levels. Candidates have to enrol for Professional CAD programs and qualify to become a CAD design Engineer.

Process involved in becoming a CAD Design Engineer

The primary step involved in becoming a CAD design Engineer is to complete the 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects. Candidates can also choose ITI after class 10. An ITI certificate in mechanical/automobile or electrical branch of engineering also qualifies an aspirant to pursue higher studies to become CAD Design Engineer.

Aspirants can opt for any branches of Engineering for their graduation. Candidates can pursue a BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering in any stream. Some of the preferred branches are as follows

  • Aerospace and Avionics engineering
  • Automobile Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Aspirants can also opt for a graduation in Architecture. Architecture is an area that has wide application of Computer Aided Designing. Aspirants can also pursue their post graduation before applying for CAD courses.

On successful completion of the undergraduate program, candidates can enrol for any professional CAD courses according to the branch chosen at the graduate level. Diploma, Post Graduate/Master diploma and professional diploma courses can be pursued by aspirants.

Professional CAD courses

  • 3D Visualization for Engineers
  • Diploma in Product Design
  • Master Diploma in Building Design
  • Master Diploma in Electrical CADD
  • Master Diploma in Electronic CADD
  • Master Diploma in Land Development
  • Master Diploma in Product Design and Analysis
  • Professional Diploma in Electronic CADD
  • Professional Diploma in Product Design and Analysis

Post graduate Diploma in CAD is another CAD course that is widely opted. Graduates in any disciple can enrol for this course. Various certificate courses in CAD are also available for graduates.

Aspirants can seek employment in various capacities like, Executive-New Product Development, Executive-Design, Design Engineer, CAD Engineer, etc in laboratories, engineering firms, and industrial plants, after completing the professional CAD course.

There is also an option of enrolling for CAD courses directly after high school in technical and community institutions. The associate, certificate and diploma degrees thus gained will allow a candidate to become a CAD technician.
