This paper comes in the 1st semester of Production Engineering. Its subject code is PE 503. Being an M.Tech program, the course deals in depth with the subject.

About the subject:

Metal forming is a subject that deals with the study of the metal and its properties. The subject deals with the effects of external factors on the physical as well as chemical properties of the paper. The subject also deals with the study of the metal forming processes and other measures involved.

An Introduction to the Principles of Metal working by Rowe, Arnold.

Metal forming analysis by  Avitzer, Mcgraw hill.

Paper pattern:

The PTU M.Tech in Production Engineering Metal Forming Paper contain all together 8 questions. The paper consists of 8 questions, but all these 8 are not supposed to be answered. Out of these given questions, one needs to attempt only 5. Each question is of 20 marks each. Each question can further be sub divided into sub parts for ease of answering. All questions carry equal marks. However, the distribution of the marks amongst the sub question is not equal and varies question to question. The marks are assigned on the extreme side of the paper just beside the question in brackets.

Maximum time:

It is a 3 hours paper, and all the answers are to be answered within this time span.

Maximum marks:

The maximum marks are 100. Since all questions carry same weightage and marks therefore each question is of 20 marks.
