Thapar University organizes ME/M. Tech Entrance Examination annually to admit the eligible candidates to the ME/M. Tech Civil Structure course. Questions for this examination are structured from the core subjects of Civil engineering program. The entrance exam consists of a written test which has to be completed within 2 hours of time. The test includes both objective and descriptive questions.

Concrete Technology:

• Concept of quality control
• Concrete making materials
• Properties of fresh and hardened concrete
• Methods of concrete mix design

Reinforced Concrete:

• Limit state design methods for flexure
• Shear, bond and torsion
• Design of basic elements using IS: 456-2000

Design of Steel Structures:

• Design of tension and compression members
• Design of beams and columns (including bases and foundations)
• Welded and riveted joints
• Introduction to pre-stressed concrete

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates are admitted to the ME/M. Tech program in Civil Structures purely on the basis of the score obtained through the entrance examinations conducted by the University. GATE score is valid only for the scholarship purposes.  The candidates those who hold a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in B. Tech degree Civil Engineering from any of the recognized universities are eligible to obtain an admission to the ME/M. Tech program.

How to Apply?

The application forms for the M. Tech Civil Structures entrance examination can be obtained from the Thapar University counter or from the allotted branches of Axis Bank. It can also be obtained through post by sending a request along with the demand draft to the specified address of the University. Applicant can login to the University website for online application. The aspirants can also fill the application forms online. The printed copy of this application form should be sent along with the required fees of Rs. 2500/- as the application fees to the University on or before the last date for the receipt of the forms.

How to fill the Form?

The application forms should be filled up very carefully. Candidates have to go through the instructions given in the examination leaflet thoroughly before filling up the application form. The name of the candidate, contact details, details of the qualification, date of birth etc. has to be filled in the appropriate places without any fail. The specimen signature of the candidate should be made in the given space and it should match with the original documents. A recent passport size photograph should be attached in the appropriate place.
