TISS UG 2011 Tata Institute of Social Sciences
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts an admission process for admission to its B.A. (Hons.) in Social Work program. B.A. (Hons.) in Social Work is a 3 year undergraduate program with a total intake of 20 seats. After doing this program from TISS candidates can get opportunities to work with government as well as Non-Government organizations.
The Institute has been renowned for its exceptional infrastructure along with highly qualified team of teaching staff. The Institute has a dedicated team of placement officers that have links to several companies to provide excellent placement. The Institute also favors high social work that encrypts different benefits in the society. The College also offers different under graduate as well as post graduate level. The candidates that have passed through the Institute have attained stable career opportunities in different industries belonging to both the multinational as well as national based companies.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. Later in 1944 it got renamed as Tata Institute of Social Sciences. In 1964 it was granted ‘deemed university’ status by Government of India. TISS provides various undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and short term programmes for different fields of social work.
Eligibility criteria:
A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with atleast 50% aggregate marks(40% for SCs/STs). Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 can also apply. The candidates have to be a citizen of India. The candidates should also be mentally as well as physically stable during the admission process.
Application Forms:
The form can be obtained directly or by post through the institute. Candidates can also download the form through the website www.tiss.edu. The candidates can also earn their respective application from post by sending the requisite letter in which the candidates are advised to mention their registration number at the top side. The candidates are also advised to provide a signature at the back side of the Demand Draft.
In no case does the Institute holds no responsibility for the loss or delay of application form from the institute. The Institute also hold no responsibility for the loss of the admit card during dispatching through post.
Important Dates:
Date of Entrance Examination: 3rd week of April, 2011
Availability of Application Forms: last week of February, 2011
Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: 2nd week of March, 2011
Selection Procedure:
Eligible candidates have to first appear for a written test. Candidates are shortlisted and are are called for Personal Interview & Group Discussion. Candidates are selected based on the total marks scored by the candidates out of 200 marks:
Written Test (100 marks)
Group Discussion (40 marks)
Personal Interview (50 marks)
Academic Record etc(10 marks)
General candidates should atleast score 45% and reserved categories atleast 35% to be considered for selection.

I have decided to do M.S.W and i wish to take admission in TISS and for this purpose I need to start preparations for my entrance exam. I had gone through last year’s brochure i.e 2009-2011 which consisting of selection procedure and they have also given weightage for the different components. as they have given the sub-divission of written test into 3 parts i.e (1) general awareness (2) analytical / logical reasoning and quantitative ability and (3) verbal reasoning and which carries 75 marks ; i am little bit confused between 2′nd and 3′rd section. what kind of books should i gone through ? what kind of preparation is required for GD and PI ?
