UKSEE 2010 MCA




UKSEE(Uttarakhand State Entrance Examination) is conducted by Uttarakhand Technical University for admission to various graduate and undergraduate programmes like engineering, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and computer applications. Uttarakhand Technical University is the chief state university in Uttarakhand which provides various professional programmes in Government/aided/private/self-financing institutes in the state of Uttarakhand.

UKSEE is conducted for admission to MCA programmes available  in various institutes in Uttarakhand. There are 130 seats available in Government colleges and over 800 seats in private institutes for MCA programme. There are 90% seats reserved for Uttarakhand candidates and 10% for All India candidates in Government Institutes. In Private Institutes 35% of all the seats are open to All India candidates whereas 50% seats are resreved for Uttarakhand candidates while 15% seats are management quota seats. For admission to non management quota seats admission is enitrely through UKSEE.

Eligiblity Criteria:

A candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university/institute along with Mathematics in graduation or in 10+2. Those in the final year of their graduation can also apply.

Application Forms:

The forms will be available from the designated post offices in various cities of Uttarakhand as well as from Post offices of Lucknow GPO, Meerut City HO and New Delhi GPO. The form can also be obtained by post from UTU Office by sending a request for the form along with a demand draft.

Important Dates(Tentative):

Date of Entrance Examination: May 2nd week, 2010
Availability of Application Forms: Mid-February - Mid-March, 2010
Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: March 3rd week, 2010

Please note that the dates are only tentative and are not final. The post will be updated as soon as the dates are officially released.

Pattern of Examination:

The entrance exam will be of 2 hours duration consisting of 100 multiple choice questions.There will be no negative marking. The questions will be from Mathematics, Statistics and Logical Ability.

Syllabus:

(i) MATHEMATICS
Modern Algebra: Idempotent law, identities, complementary laws, Demorgan’s theorem, mapping, inverse relation,equivalence relation, Piano’s Axiom, definition of rational numbers and integers through equivalence relation.
Algebra: Surds, solution of simultaneous and quadratic equations, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progression,Binomial theorem for any index, logarithms, exponential and logarithmic series, determinants.
Probability: Definition, dependent and independent events, numerical problems on addition and multiplication of probability, theorems of probability.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, use of mathematical tables, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse functions, DeMoiver’s theorem.
Co-Ordinate Geometry: Co-ordinate geometry of the straight lines, pair of straight lines, circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola and their properties.
Calculus: Differentiation of function of functions, tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima of minima, limits of function, integration of function (by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction), definite integral (application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of sphere, cone and cylinder).
Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications.
Dynamics: Velocity, composition of velocity, relative velocity, acceleration, composition of acceleration, motion under gravity, projectiles, laws of motions, principles of conservation of momentum and energy, direct impact of smooth bodies, pulleys.
Statics: Composition of co-planar, concurrent and parallel forces, moments and couples, resultant of set of coplanar forces and conditions of equilibrium, determination of Centroides in simple case, problems involving friction.
(ii) STATISTICS: Theory of probability, Mean, Median, Mode, Dispersion and Standard Deviation.
(iii) LOGICAL ABILITY: Questions to test analytical and reasoning capability of candidates.
