University of Pune PhD Philosophy Entrance Exam 2012
University of Pune, one of the premier universities in India is popularly known as the ‘Oxford of the East’. The university houses 46 academic departments. It has about 307 recognized research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges providing graduate and under-graduate courses in several fields. The admittance of the candidates to its PhD program will be on the basis of score secured in the entrance exam.
Structure of University of Pune PhD Philosophy Entrance Exam
The University of Pune PhD Philosophy Entrance Exam will be for 100 marks and the time allowed is 2 hours. There will be 4 sections. In the first section there will be 13 questions carrying 2 marks each, out of which the candidate is required to answer only 10. In the second section, there will be 4 short note type questions each carrying 10 marks, from which one has to answer 2 questions. The third section will consist of 4 critical note type questions, among which only 2 questions have to be answered. In the last section, the candidate should answer 1 essay type question carrying 30 marks out of the 4 questions asked. The questions in these sections will be from various topics of Indian Philosophy and Western Philosophy.

Eligibility Criteria
For the admission to the PhD programme in Philosophy from University of Pune, one should have completed their masters program with at least 50% marks from a recognized University. There will be 5% relaxation for reserved category students of Maharashtra.
How to Apply?
The candidates can apply online from the official website http://unipune.ac.in/phdExam/ for the PhD Philosophy Entrance Exam. Before applying, one should register on the website with username and password by clicking “Apply Online” link in the home page. The candidate has to remember this username and password for future references. After registration, one can proceed to the online PhD Examination. There are 2 fee payment modes available - direct cash deposition at any branch of HDFC Bank Ltd or Bank of Maharashtra or payment through Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank. If the payment is made through DD, then the candidate has to take the DD in favor of Registrar, University of Pune which is payable at Pune. If the cash is directly paid, then the aspirant should submit the online generated challan form at the respective bank cash counter. After filling all the details in the application form, the candidate is required to click on the submit button. The print out of this completed form has to be taken and along with Challan / DD and other required documents have to be sent to Deputy Registrar, P. G. Admission Section, University of Pune, Pune - 411 007, Maharashtra before the due date.
How to fill the Form?
The candidates should take intense care while filling in the application form. One has to keep all the details of DD for filling the online form if chosen this mode of payment. The candidates after filling the form should check whether all the details entered are right. If any change has to be made, then click on the “Update” button and make necessary changes.
