The Rubber Board was established under the Government of India as a statutory body. The board was established under the Rubber Act 1947 with an objective of providing overall development of the rubber industry in the country. Cultivation of natural rubber in a commercial manner was first introduced in the country by the British. And the first commercial Hevea plantations in the country were established in the year 1902.
