The National Law University is a new entrant to the state of Orissa mainly for offering legal education and the university came into existence in the year 2009. The university added weightage to the already functioning law colleges in the state and within a short period of its entry, the university has made its presence felt in the legal educational field due to the quality of education offered and the participation of its students in different co-curricular activities like moot courts. The university has different schools like school of public law, school of private law, school of liberal arts and school of managerial excellence under its control.

Courses in law in Orissa:

Law college in the state of Orissa offer LLB course that extends to a period of three years and these colleges also offer LLB as an integrated course along with BBA and BA courses. the integrated courses extends to a period of five years and for these integrated courses, candidates need not be graduates as in the case of three-year LLB course, rather, they must have completed their higher secondary examination from the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other state board for that matter. Admission is offered to the students in these law colleges according the eligibility norms fixed by the university to which the particular college is affiliated. Pure merit alone is considered for admission to most of the law colleges in Orissa and there are management quota seats as well for admitting students to the Law courses.
