Engineering students of Mumbai University during the 2nd semester of the course has to answer applied mathematics paper-2. As far as engineers are concerned, maths is everything and not surprisingly, this is one of the most important papers.

Paper pattern

The question paper consists of four sections, A, B, C and D. Section A is compulsory and all the questions from that section have to be answered by the candidates. Section A consists of one question which is divided into five sub questions From section B, the candidates have to answer only six questions from the nine printed in the question paper. Twenty questions are printed in section c and the candidates have to answer thirteen of them.  Section D consists of five questions and any three of them have to be answered by the candidates.

Marking scheme

The paper is marked out of 100. Section A is for a total of five marks. Section B is for 12 marks, C for 65 and D for 18. In case more than the required number of questions is answered, the questions that give the maximum aggregate will be accepted.

Duration of the paper

The duration of the paper is 3 hours. Candidates will be allotted full fifteen minutes before the exam starts for reading the question paper and clarifying any doubts regarding the question paper if required

About the subject

The subject is purely mathematical. Few of the topics included in the subject are straight lines, integration, circle, differentiation, triangles et cetera. There is no alternative other than working out a lot of problems to get through this paper with ease. All the working leading to the answer needs to be shown clearly in the answer sheet.
