Maulana Azad National Urdu University came into existence in the year 1998 and it is a central university located in the city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The university was given this name in honor of the first minister of education of India and a scholar of Urdu and Islam literature Mr. Maulana Abul Azad. The university was established with the objective of promoting Urdu language, to offer education through Urdu medium and to pay attention to the education of women.
The university has been awarded with A grade status recently by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university is offering education in the faculties of arts, business administration and education and it is also offering a number of courses not only to students belonging to India, but also to the students belonging to different countries through its Directorate of Distance Education.
