About the Examination:

In the 1st semester of engineering under JNTU all the papers encountered for students under the various disciplines are the same.

Examination pattern:

The paper is a theoretical papers among the 6 other papers that one has to appear for in the 1st semester of mechanical engineering. It has a credit of 4.

About the Paper:

The paper is a theoretical paper based on the basic concepts of mechanics. It is coded as  R07A1EC03 .This paper is common to streams like Mechanical, Chemical, Automobile etc.

Syllabus:

The syllabus of mechanics is divided into eight units for the ease of completion of the syllabus. The topics are basic concepts of forces like coplanar, concurrent etc. The theory of moment and the various applications associated with it. Free body diagrams are frequently asked, so as framing of the equations of forces and equilibrium. Concepts of work energy and their application, Simple harmonic motions, Lamis theorem, concepts of center of gravity etc are all dealt with in the syllabus. Moment of inertia and kinetics of particles should be given special attention in the examination point of view.

Paper pattern:

The paper is a subjective paper with elaborate answers. One needs to choose 5 questions from the 8 questions that is provided. There are sub parts in each question for the ease of securing marks and each question is of 16 marks. The uniqueness about the paper is that there are four sets of question papers to ensure that students are checked on the platform of different topics.

Full marks of the question and the time allotted:

The maximum time allotted to answer the five questions is three hours. Each question is of 16 marks, therefore the total marks that can be secured is 80.
