The paper is about the basic knowledge of mechanical engineering and the paper is about the concept of mechanics, the subject also comprises lots of numerical to enhance the understanding.

The paper is important in engineering as it is a core paper and knowledge in this paper is required in almost every field. Basic concept is a must for everyone in engineering.

Paper Pattern:

The paper of Basic mechanical engineering is a technical paper and questions asked are of both subjective and numerical type. The questions asked are 12 and these questions are divided into 2 parts equally. There are 3 questions from each section is required to be attempted. The questions are of equal marks and questions are with sub-questions for the ease of students. Some questions in the paper are required to be attempted with diagram and sketches.

The questions asked are of Stoke’s theorem, Green’s theorem, and principle &numerical based on the 1st& 2nd law of thermodynamics, Clausius inequality, numerical based on thermodynamics, principle of entropy & enthalpy, Bulk modulus of elasticity, Newton’s law of viscosity, Euler’s equation along a stream line etc.

Marks and time:

The paper can fetch a student a highest of 100 marks and time allotted is 3 hours only. The questions in each section are of 18 marks and 16 marks respectively which are divided into 2-3 sub-questions.
