The Lamfussy Research Fellowship which is conducted by the European Central Bank (ECB) is looking for promising and hard working young researchers and it is designed for the promotion of higher quality research program on the structure, integration and European financial system. The number of fellowships here is only five. The European financial bank along with Centre for Financial Studies has started a joint research network ECB-CFS to research on economical issues. The network started its research on performance of European financial system in the year 2003.

The fellowship program is named after one of the top banker of his time named Baron Alexandre Lamfulussy who was also the first president of European Monetary Institute. Each fellowship is sponsored with a gratuity of 10,00o Euros. A research paper is required to write by the successful candidates in the year of 2011 on any of the network priority areas.

• Financial systems as risk managers

• Risk distributors and risk creators

• Integration and development of retail financial services

• Promotion of innovative firms

• Financial modernization

• Governance and Integration of European financial system

Details for Lamfalussy fellows:

The fellows have to represent their paper work at the network’s workshop, conferences and during their research the fellows are require to publish their work in preferred journals. At the networks website the information about present and previous fellows can be obtained.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidate must not more than 36 years of age.

• Researchers at assistant professor level and very advanced PhD students are also eligible to apply for this fellowship.

• Candidate must submit the application in English including:

1. Cover letter

2. Curriculum vitae

3. Two letters of recommendations

4. Two page research falling under any of these topics mentioned above.

Important dates:

Application should be submitted by the candidates on or before January 31st ,2011. And the result will be declared by March 2011. The best five candidates will be honored from the candidates. Decision taken by the committee will be taken to be final.
