The Balurghat B. Ed College was founded in the year 2004 on the 7th of July as a self-financing non-profit institution. Initially, the college was offering B. Ed course with affiliation from the University of North Bengal and recently in the year 2008, it got affiliation from the University of Gour Banga.

Courses offered:

Balurghat B. Ed College is offering bachelor of Education and diploma in education courses under the guidance of Gour Banga University.

Eligibility for admission:

For getting admission to the Bachelor of education course offered by the college, candidates must have completed their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any stream with not less than 50% of marks. Candidates who have completed their senior secondary/higher secondary examination with 50% of marks are eligible for getting admission to the Diploma in Education course offered by Balurghat B. Ed College.

Intake Capacity:

The college has an intake capacity of 100 students (both men and women) to the B. Ed course and the candidates should be domiciled in the state of West Bengal. As far as D. Ed course is concerned, the intake capacity of the college is 50 students and candidates must be in the age group of 18 and 35 domiciled in West Bengal.

Admission Procedure:

In the process of admission to both the courses offered by the college, reservation is made for SC/ST/OBC candidates based on the norms set by the state government. For both the courses, admission is done based on the merit secured by the students in the qualifying examination.

College campus:

The campus of Balurghat B. Ed College is located in a land spread over 3.79 acres or 15,368 square feet. The built-in area of the land is 10822 square feet and the campus is bounded by The Atreyee Welfare Trust Office in the west, Santhal Para in the east, Atreyee D.A.V. Public School in the south and Bharat Seva Sangam in the North.
