For initiating the construction work for setting up the campus for Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University, the cornerstone was set on 24th of September 2004, by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri. Narendra Modi on the basis of the University Act published in the Government Gazette in March 2003. Initially on 2005, the university had only 10 colleges under its jurisdiction. But, not the number of colleges affiliated to the university has increased to 39 with nearly 200+ lecturers working in faculties of pharmacy, engineering, law, technology, science, commerce and arts.

As said earlier, the university started with 10 colleges and these colleges were previously under the jurisdiction of Gujarat University. The university was recognized by University Grants Commission on 3rd of February 2004. The list of colleges affiliated to the university is given below:

The university aims to provide holistic and good quality education and to conduct revolutionary innovations, developments and research not only in fundamental streams of education, but in professional steams as well. Every year, the university is organizing sports and cultural activities to motivate the students to participate in extra-curricular activities. The university was given the name to honor distinguished leader Shyamji Krishna Verma, who encouraged the freedom struggle.
