SBI conducts recruitment for the selection of eligible candidates to its probationary officer post every year either in the month of September or in October. The exam will be carried out in two stages- a written test consisting of various sections and group discussion & interview. Only those who have cleared the written test will be called for the interview. The selection would be based on the performance of the candidates in both the two stages.

This recruitment process helps candidates to pursue a bright future in the banking field. The exam will be conducted in various centers in almost all parts of India. The test will be highly competitive one and only those who are well prepared can get through it. All the details regarding the exam is specified in the official site of SBI (www.sbi.co.in)

Academic Qualifications for SBI PO Exam

The candidates to be eligible to attend the bank PO exam should be a graduate or its equivalent. The same should be in any stream from a recognized university with a minimum requisite of 65% average mark for general category. 60% for other classes is a must. The candidate to get selected for the PO post must also have a little knowledge about basic computer handling.

Age Limit for SBI PO Exam

Candidates of general category should come under the age limit of 21-30 years. There will be some age relaxation to the candidates from other categories. For OBC candidates the upper age limit is relaxed to 33 years and for SC/ ST candidates, Ex-servicemen, and candidates from Kashmir division as per government norms it is relaxed to 35 years. For those candidates who are visually or orthopaedically handicapped also have an upper age relaxation of 10 years for general category, 13years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST candidates.

Category Reservation for the SBI PO Exam

Last time the total vacancy announced was for 1000 seats. Out of this 505 seats are for general category, 270 seats for OBC, 150 for SC and 75 for ST candidates. There is also reservation for the VH and OH class candidates also. These candidates who suffer above 40% of the relevant disability must possess Medical Board issued disability certificate. Blind or low vision candidates and also those suffering from cerebral palsy which affects his/her writing speed can be accompanied by their own writer . The writer should be one grade lower in terms of minimum educational qualification as required by a probationary officer.
