Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a program that has been started by the Government of India in order to enhance the research opportunities in the field of Science and technology. This program aims in encouraging the young talents of the country. Therefore through this program the students with right aptitude are able to continue their education in research areas as well.

The Government of India conducts Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Aptitude Test in Basic Science so as to realize the students with the potential in them. These students are granted with scholarship to take up the research. Apart from this various KVPY fellows are also required in the educational institutes across the country.

The funds are granted by the Department of Science and Technology. The programs are structured and administrated by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Candidates are selected from +1, +2 level as well as from those who have done under graduate programs in Science /Medicine. Engineering students are also selected on the basis of their aptitude for research.

Structure of KVPY AT for BS

The question paper for this aptitude test is prepared in a multiple choice objective type manner. It also includes descriptive questions. For the objective type questions, four options will be provided for the students so as to choose the right answer. But in the case of descriptive type questions, the answers have to be given in detail as in the case of a problem, sum etc .The model question paper for KVPY Aptitude test for Basic Sciences will be uploaded in the web later in the month of September. There is no negative marking in this examination.

Syllabus for KVPY AT for BS

There is no prescribed syllabus for this examination as the test includes the entire portions upto 12th standard. It will be a written test that aims in testing the understanding as well as the analytical ability of the candidate.

Eligibility Criteria

Stream SA:

The students those who are currently enrolled to XI standard and having a minimum of 75 % aggregate for Mathematics and Science subjects for the X standard board examination are eligible for this exam. The SC/ST students need to have only 65% for the same.

Stream SB+2:

Candidates those who are currently in the 12th grade and who have achieved an aggregate of 75% for their tenth standard board examination for subjects such as Mathematics and Science are eligible to appear for this test.  SC/ST students need to have only 65% marks for the tenth standard examination.

Stream SB:

The candidates those who have achieved a minimum of 60 % aggregate in the science subjects for the 12th standard board examination and are in the 1st year of the B.Sc/B.S/M.Sc are eligible to appear for this examination. The SC/ST students need to have 55%.

How to Apply?

The application forms are different for each stream. Candidates those who wish to apply for more than one stream have to submit separate applications. Applications can be sent through online as well as by post. The aspirants those are unable to apply online are advised to send a request to any of the KVPY centers in order to obtain a hard copy of the application form. The payment of the hard copy of the application forms have to remit at any of the core branches of State Bank of India. The pay slip has to be sent along with the request and the stream must be clearly written on the envelope.

How to fill the form?

The girl candidates are exempted from paying the processing charges. There are no fee payments for physically challenged candidates. They have to produce the certificates issued for the same. SC/ST students are requested to submit the caste certificate along with the application form. If the candidate falls in the stream SP category, the copies of the mark sheets of all the qualifying examinations must be attached with the application form.
