Operations Research Analyst - How to Become an Operations Research Analyst?
Operations research analysis is mainly employed in organizations because the same uses most optimum and cost effective method to solve a problem and to make decisions. Those who carry out operation research analysis with the help of sophisticated and automated tools are referred to as Operations Research Analyst.
They ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the organization by applying engineering, mathematical, and scientific analytical methods. These professionals are mostly involved in the planning and strategic management of the organization. They also deal with planned allocation of resources, performance appraisals, budget allocation, supply chain management, database management, etc.
The management of the company often presents the idea of a project first to the operation research analyst. They identify the problem, evaluate the most cost effective and time effective method to carry out the project. They mainly employ methods like linear programming, statistical analysis, modeling and simulation methods for the purpose.
Qualifying Exam
The candidate has to pass masters degree in operations research in order to get into the role of operations research analyst. Those with post graduation in any of the areas of mathematics or statistics are also eligible for the job. In order to get in to such a responsible job, the candidate has to clear the screening test carried out by the recruiter. The test will be based on case studies and it will be rather difficult also.
Who are eligible to apply?
The candidate who has completed master’s degree in operations research can definitely apply to the position of operations research analyst. For this, the candidate has to complete their graduation in mathematics or statistics. Those candidates who have completed their 10+2 class studies with science major are eligible for graduation in science. The candidates with prior work experience in operation research (at junior level positions) are given top priority during the recruiting process.

Skills required for a Operations Research Analyst
The candidates with logical thinking and good problem solving skills are mostly preferred for the job of operations research analyst. Proactive approach in planning and implementing things are also necessary for the job. Sound Communication and technical skills are also desired for the job positions.
