Jammu & Kashmir Police is the police department functioning in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and it was established by the Jammu & Kashmir Government. The J & K Police is working under the direct control of the Department of Home Affairs. It is the law enforcement agency in the state and it works in co-ordination with the Indian army and parliamentary forces in India. The headquarters of the police departments is working from the city of Srinagar.

Recruitment by Jammu & Kashmir Police:

Jammu & Kashmir Police has called for applications from eligible candidates permanently residing in the state of Jammu & Kashmir for the position of sub-inspector in Jammu & Kashmir Telecommunication and the details regarding the notification issued in this regard is given below:

Name of the Vacancy: Sub-Inspector

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 41 divided among different categories inclusive of backlog services as follows:

• OM – 15

• RBA – 12

• ST – 05

• SC – 06

• SUPC – 01

• ALC - 02

Pay Brand: Candidates appointed for the position of sub-inspector will be coming under the pay brand of Rs.9300-34800+GP of Rs.4240.

Eligibility requirements:

Educational qualification: To apply for the position of Sub-inspector, candidates must have completed their B. Tech/B. E in electrical & electronics engineering/electronics & telecommunication engineering/electronics & communication engineering from a recognized university.

Physical Standards: For male candidates minimum height requirement is 5’-6” and chest expanded at 33 ½”. For Female candidates, the minimum height requirement is 5’-2”. However, for male candidates belonging to the districts of Kargil and Leh and for candidates belonging to Gorkha Community, the minimum height requirement is 5’-4” and for female under this category, the minimum height requirement is 5’.

Age requirement: Candidates must be between the age group of 18 and 28 years as on the 1st of January 2011. For in-service policemen, the upper age limit is 30 years.

Mode of Selection:

There will be four-stage selection process, which includes physical measure test, outdoor tests, written examination and viva-voce/personality assessment test.

Candidates belonging to Kargil and Leh districts will have to deposit application form to the office of Kargil and SSsP Leh respectively and last date for receipt of application in both the cases is 30th of November 2011.
